More than 3000 kilometres made with the new Polaris Switchback Dragon 700, based on IQ chassis.  Even though we were at the end of January when these lines were written, the amount of snow received last November and December helped us realize many rides and of course gave us the opportunity to make a first summary of our observations.

Like mentioned in our last articles, we are in the first complete year with the IQ chassis offered by Polaris.   As the manufacturer announced, we have to understand that this sled is a high performance one, made for rough trails.  In fact, Dragon models are more « extreme » versions that Polaris as to offer than the regular ones.  It’s important to understand that our comments may be nuanced on some elements if we compare with other current Switchback 700 models.

Concerning this snowmobile, we can already say that it’s a vehicle with many mature components based on this chassis.  In fact, we don’t have any major problems to signal since our first ride, except a cut in the lighting level in some conditions.  Around 7500 rpm in acceleration, we can observe a cut in the electronic system that last a second laps.   Experts working for Blouin Sport Motorisé confirmed that the problem is well known at Polaris and we can found them on many 600 and 700 models using CleanFire technology.   They are actually working with Polaris to find the right solution to solve the problem.   They also assured that this little trouble won’t make a break down or damage the sled.
